Sie studierte Angewandte Theaterwissenschaft in Gie\u00dfen und promovierte dort zum Thema &#8222;DanceLab \u2013 Zeitgen\u00f6ssischer Tanz und Neue Technologien&#8220; (Promotion ausgezeichnet mit dem Tanzwissenschaftspreis NRW 2001). Sie war von 1997 bis 2000 Doktorandin im Graduiertenkolleg &#8222;K\u00f6rper-Inszenierungen&#8220; an der Freien Universit\u00e4t Berlin und gr\u00fcndete mit Oliver Behnecke das Produktionslabel &#8222;Stadt Raum Inszenierung&#8220; (z.B. Festival &#8222;ZeitenWende&#8220;, Gie\u00dfen 2000). Als Dozentin u.a. in Berlin, Bern, Gie\u00dfen, Hamburg und Salzburg t\u00e4tig. Von 2002 bis 2006 war Kerstin Evert Dramaturgin auf Kampnagel und entwickelte in diesem Rahmen das Konzept zu Tanzplan Hamburg.
